The cherry flowers in a valley in Yiliang County of Kunming City, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province are in full blossom, attracting flocks of tourists to enjoy the views and taking pictures.
The cherry blossom that has dressed the entire valley in pink stands in stark contrast to the scene 16 years ago when the area was a barren land. After years of efforts, local farmers worked to plant cheery trees, turning the over 250 hectares of wastelands into a well-known tourism attraction.
The 370,000 cherry trees in 61 varieties now lure as many as 20,000 tourists in one day. Cherry flowers have helped local farmers to achieve a well-off life.
