On March 20, Qingdao held a work conference on high-quality development of digital economy. It was proposed at the conference to build up the strengthen, quality and size of digital economy, accelerate the cultivation of new productive forces underpinned by digital economy and foster new drivers and advantages of high-quality development in Qingdao.

Qingdao plans to prioritize promoting digital industrialization, the application of digital technologies in industries and the in-depth integration of digital economy and the real economy to continuously open up new fields and tracks for the development of digital economy. Pursuing scientific and technological innovation to drive industrial innovation, Qingdao will ramp up efforts to develop key industries including integrated circuits, new-type display, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, digital terminals, and software and information services, work hard to seek a presence in future industries, make breakthroughs in a batch of key core technologies, and facilitate industrial conglomeration. Qingdao will stretch the role of “chain chief system” and “industrial chain chiefs” to improve the operation of industrial parks, and work hard to introduce a number of large and good-quality projects on digital economy to better supplement, extend and strengthen industrial chains. The “Industrial Empowerment in Qingdao, Building up Strengthen in Intelligent Manufacturing” campaign will be implemented across the board, and industrial internet platforms such as COSMOPlat and Ningmengdou will be strengthened to enable all sorts of enterprises to better use information technology, digital technology and intelligent technology. Digital technology will be employed to facilitate industrial transformation and upgrading in agriculture, services, marine industry and culture, diversify application scenarios and improve the in-depth integration of digital technology and the real economy. Qingdao will step up support for the development of digital economy, improve the building of computing infrastructure, push ahead with the construction of digital governments and societies, data gathering, improve the data gathering, governance and sharing system, vigorously promote the value of data, enhance the capability for protecting data security and accelerate the construction of a sound, orderly and vibrant digital economy.  (Xue Huafei)
